Session 11 - April 22, 2018

Harpers Transportation Network
The Marshall at Mirabar recommended that the crew visit the underground dwarven city to experience local flavour.  The crew went to one of the secondary entrances which took them to a well, some 30’ across with a stone staircase that spiralled into the depths. Warm, dry air wafted upward.  The stairs descended 100’ and opened onto a large thoroughfare busy with dwarves and other races walking to and fro. Building facades carved out of stone rose 40 to 50’. Homes, storefronts, inns and eateries all line this main artery called Mine Street.
Following the marshals directions, they ducked into side streets, some no more that 5’ wide that took them eastward and toward their destination, the Deerbarrel Inn, the sign obviously designed by a small child or a deranged adult. Rooms secured, they headed to an ale hall.
Note on currency: 1 giant head = 2 giant ears.
Back through the alleyways to the ———-.  A long room filled with some long tables and benches plus 4 or 5 round tables in front of a raised platform for entertaining.
Now things start to get a little weird.  Ronan steps up on the platform, reaches into his bag of holding and pulls out a mechanical, clockwork dog and sets it down with a donation hat and then draws forth a mandolin and starts warming up.
But the other party members noticed a dwarf sitting near the stage who was closely watching Ronan and his satchel.  Skithryx went up to tell Ronan of what they saw and promptly sat down and began to watch the watcher.  Well, the table was a quiet one, with light drinkers and conversationalists.  The dwarf with "satchel" eyes watched the show, let his friends talk and drank his drink.  In hindsight, one might think that when a mandolin and a wind-up clockwork dog are pulled from a small shoulder satchel that it might attract attention.  :)
Chamele and Magdiana enjoyed the dwarves hospitality and conversation.  They heard about a classy river boat in Yartar that hosted fine games of chance in a comfortable setting.  Ronan leapt to mind with Chamele heard that one.  Magdiana also heard mention of "Old Snarl" who is rumoured to be an ancient Red Dragon that lairs somewhere in the Spine of the World.
Well, after a few hours they headed back to the Deerbarrel Inn.  Ronan did a set there for an hour or so, and earned his free room and breakfast.
Midnight fast approached so they packed it up for the night.  The next day, went to the Marshals office looking to collect their reward.  A little anxiety had built up over night about the IOU with the X on it.  "Did we get bamboozled?"  But, no!  They got the 5G's.  In gold.  Well, platinum.  5 G's in P's.  Giddy with moolaw and purpose, they killed time until midnight and headed to the stables and the transportation ring.
One after the other, they stepped into the ring.  Light seemed to explode around them and they found themselves transported to a windowless stone room.  Krowen Valharrow stepped into the room.  It took a minute or two for him to validate the crew's credentials once he was satisfied, he introduced himself and took the crew to a room for a debriefing.  The crew learned that Hekaton's daughter Serrisa had taken over in the Kings absence.  Nothing much is known about the death of Queen Neri other that she had been found on a Island where she often met and socialized with small folk.  She was found by storm giants from the Kings Court.
Man, it's got to 2am by now.  We are going to bed!
