The Voice of a Giant God - July 8th
Initial theories (Harshnag’s axe in the hands of the frost giant statue, etc) on how to activate the gateway did not work. Everyone went into the south hall and found giant-sized tables and benches and a giant sized stone slab that seemed to be used for food preparation. The air here was warm due to a seemingly perpetual fire burning in the middle of the room. There was also a remoraz which immediately moved to attack. Surprisingly, Harshnag was not as big a help as everyone may have hoped. After the big bug was killed, they found a giant sized great axe leaning against the wall. They immediately asked Harshnag, who agreed, to put the ax into the statue. Nothing happened. Maggie/Chamele suggested the glyphs were significant. When the Frost giant great-axe was touched to the glyph for frost/snow the portal began to swirl with looked like thunder clouds. They could make out a room beyond but no other details could be gleaned. They all (not Harshnag) stepped through.
They emerged in an octagonal room. Statues of the six kinds of giants knelt on the floor looking toward the centre of the room. Each of the statues held aloft a large glowing lantern.
A large circular disk in the center of the floor was partially covered with the corpse of a cloud giant. The ghost of the corpse rose up and asked that he be avenged, that his father betrayed and murdered him here. His father’s name was bluthkus-something. When they all stepped onto the central disk a voice echoed through room:
The voice of the Eye of the All Father:
Ask your question.
Hekaton is beyond my sight.
One of the lantern lights went out.
The ring of winter is on the finger of Artus Cimber. Artus Cimber is in the land of Chult, a peninsula in the south.
Another of the lantern lights went out.
Queen Neri was murdered by the Kraken Society disguised as members of the Lords alliance in an attempt of frame them for the crime.
A third lantern light went out.
The Kraken Society is a group of humanoids who worship (not unlike a cult) an ancient kraken who lives in the depths of the ocean.
Four of the lantern lights are now dim.
The raven queen meddles in the affairs of others, both mortal and immortal. She is the master of the Shadowfell. If the Raven Queen is interested in you…beware.
Only one lantern remains illuminated.
Go to Maelstrom, the storm giants lair. There you must help Serissa, Hekaton’s youngest daughter who rules Maelstrom in his absence. Serissa needs your help.
You learn that you need one of King Hekaton’s Conch of Teleportation to get Maelstrom. Without one, you will need to travel Maelstrom (which lies at the bottom of the Trackless Sea) the old fashioned way. The great leaders of giant kind have Conches in order to easily travel to King Hekatons court.
All six of the lantern lights are now dark.
But first you must prove yourself worthy. There are giant relics that have been lost…oh, that was quick.
For each giant relic that you recovered and placed on the circular disk, a bas-relief sculpture of a type of giant was illuminated on one of the walls as the relic vanished. The bas-relief of a fire giant and a cloud giant appears on the walls.
You have done a great deed for all giants! A new path lies before you!
[the following might be new :) dm mistake]
You must pick one of the giants to approach to beg, borrow or steal a conch of teleportation. When you make your choice, you will magically know the location of the giant in question.
